Mezcal or “Tequila with worm”, is an artisanal distillate, produced by the mescaleros masters in 9 Mexican states. It is obtained from the plants of over 30 species of agave, although the most used is the espadin variety. Mezcal Monte Alban, which takes its name from a pre-Columbian archaeological site in Mexico, is distilled in a continuous still. Inside each bottle is contained the gusano, the worm, a badge of value and quality, for this distillate, whose legend says that it gives strength, vigor and acts as an aphrodisiac. It is one of the most coveted and interesting products that can be found in cocktail bars. It can be tasted straight or used as a base in the art of mixology for the preparation of various drinks.
