Pacher Hof

The Pacherhof is a winery in Novacella, which is located on a sunny slope above Brixen. The cellar is located in the Isarco Valley, near the bishop's city: its origins date back to 1142 and it has always been owned by the family.
The winegrower Andreas Huber cultivates just as many white grape varieties on eight hectares, which he presses in his own cellar and markets himself.

Originally, near Novacella, there were only three farms, one of which was the Pacherhof, mentioned in documents well before Bishop Hartmann, in 1142, founded the abbey of Novacella. The surname of the farm remained Pacher until 1849, when Maria, one of the four daughters of Andreas Pacher, married the winegrower Josef Huber, who brought with him not only the surname, but also the viticulture.

Josef Huber and the farmer Johann Huber from Elvas were the pioneers of wine in the Isarco Valley: during countless exploration trips, which led them to Holland, they experimented with various qualities, developing the awareness that Sylvaner, Pinot Grigio and Gewürztraminer were the ideal varieties for the land and the very steep slopes of their valley. Josef Huber was also the first to plant the Kerner vines.
At first scarcely considered, but later taken up by many, these vine varieties are still today the visiting card of the Isarco Valley winemakers.
Today it is Josef Huber's great-grandson Andreas Huber who manages the Pacherhof estate.
