Philipponnat Champagne Clos De Goisses 2011
Clos des Goisses is a unique and recognizable vineyard among all for its very steep slope. This 5.5 hectare plot is the oldest clos (walled vineyard) in Champagne and, above all, the steepest. Its 45 ° inclination is not the origin of the name: in the old local dialect "gois" indicates a hill with a very steep side. Perfectly exposed to the south, it occupies the best côteau (hill) of Mareuil-sur-Ay, with an exceptional terrain where chalk emerges.
This is how a new Clos des Goisses was born, with wines made almost entirely (80%) in wood without malolactic fermentation, which allowed for the production of just over 12,020 bottles, which then remained on the lees for 8 years.
